Working hard for the people of West Lancashire

29/03/12 - Rosie Cooper MP meets with young debaters from St. An

Could the next MP for West Lancashire be one of St. Anne’s Primary School’s debating society?

On Wednesday 28th March, current MP Rosie Cooper met the future generation of budding politicians.

Rosie Cooper met with the members of the schools debating society to discuss Parliament and how it works, what Rosie does as an MP, how real debates work and how it all links to their lives. The children had previously written to Rosie.

MP Rosie said:

“The members of the debating society at St. Anne’s have excellent skills that will stand the children in good stead as they pursue their education and future careers.

It was a real pleasure to meet them and I was asked some tough questions. They’re a very impressive group of children.”

Anne-Marie Taylor, their teacher said:

“We’d like to thank Rosie Cooper for coming to meet with the debating society. They were really excited to meet an MP and to find out more about the work of Parliament and what MPs do on our behalf.”

Rosie also gave them some useful tips to use when they are debating issues in the future.
