Ormskirk Magistrates Court is to remain open

"I am pleased with the news that Ormskirk Magistrates Court is to remain open. We need to remain vigilant that the civil service don't now try to merge Ormskirk with South Ribble as they proposed in 2006 when I had campaigned against the civil servants proposals for mergers across Lancashire. Harriet Harman MP, Minister for Justice, backed Lancashire Labour MPs who fought against it to the dismay of the Courts Authorities."

"I believe it is right there is a magistrates court here in West Lancashire and I will continue to work closely with local magistrates to support them and the work they do to help make West Lancashire a safer place."

"However, this is the thin end of the wedge from the Conservative-Liberal Government. For Ormskirk Courts there has been a reprieve but I will remain vigilant for any future plans or proposals. I would certainly oppose, once again, any plans that would affect local justice being delivered locally."
