VILLAGERS in West Lancashire will still be able to use local buses despite the closure of a major road, says district MP Rosie Cooper.
Rosie has pushed for and secured a replacement service while the A5209 in Parbold is closed for resurfacing works from its junction with Alder Lane through to Higher Lane.
The works are due to start on Monday, July 28. It is expected the works will last around three weeks, during which a shuttle bus service will be laid on.
The 203 Newburgh-Parbold service’s route will be Beech Avenue, Mill Lane, Station Road, Tan House Lane, Lancaster Lane, The Common, Tan House Lane, Lancaster Lane, Chorley Road, Hill Dale, Robin Lane, Hall Lane, Mains Lane, Wanes Blades Road, Hoscar Moss Road, Ring O’Bells Lane, Lathom, A5209, Newburgh west side of the junction of Sandy Lane/Tears Lane. Return journeys will be in the reverse direction.
MP Rosie said: “It is important that local people can still use public transport while the road works are being carried out, so this is very good news.
“Obviously, the works are going to cause disruption so I am pressing Lancashire County Council to ensure the works are done in the shortest time possible.”
