After the torrential downpour that hit West Lancashire last week, Rosie Cooper MP called an emergency meeting with United Utilities on Friday to visit some of the places and the residents worst-effected by the rain in Skelmersdale. Rosie has been contacted by a huge number of constituents affected by the massive rainfall, where flooding has caused great upset and distress to so many families across West Lancashire. A number of areas including Bone Island and School Lane were closed as the water flooded to a depth of 3 to 4 feet. Rosie Cooper MP said: "This is a...

In response to the news there is £6 million of Child Support monies owed in West Lancashire West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper said: "It is unacceptable that so much money is outstanding to children in West Lancashire. Parents have an obligation to support their children and it is a sad reflection that I deal with so many CSA cases, working with parents and the Child Support Agency. Ultimately it is the children in these cases that suffer, which is simply wrong." "I have also written to the Minister and Child Support Agency to ask what further action can be taken...

West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper has attacked the Coalition Government's proposals to review the Bus Service Operator Grant and for Rural Bus Subsidy Grant to be no longer ring-fenced putting transport policy into reverse. MP Rosie said: "It really is back to the nightmare of 1980's. Once again we see the Conservatives hitting the poorest and elderly, the most vulnerable for whom local bus services are a lifeline." "If these grants are scrapped it seriously threatens people's jobs as they won't be able to get to work. It will leave many older people trapped and isolated in their homes as...

West Lancashire MP, Rosie Cooper is calling for a fair deal for UKs army of working carers. Rosie has tabled an Early Day Motion calling on the Government to remove the disincentives to work faced by carers and ensuring carers are not forced into financial hardship. Rosie is working alongside the Shopworkers Union, Usdaw, to campaign for greater recognition by the Government for role played by over six million carers who save the UK an estimated £87 billion per year. Rosie herself is a carer and has worked closely with local carer organisations in West Lancashire. The campaign is calling...

West Lancashire MP, Rosie Cooper commented following the announcement Ormskirk Magistrates Court is to remain open "I am pleased with the news that Ormskirk Magistrates Court is to remain open. We need to remain vigilant that the civil service don't now try to merge Ormskirk with South Ribble as they proposed in 2006 when I had campaigned against the civil servants proposals for mergers across Lancashire. Harriet Harman MP, Minister for Justice, backed Lancashire Labour MPs who fought against it to the dismay of the Courts Authorities." "I believe it is right there is a magistrates court here in West...
