West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper has dropped by to support Tesco Burscough’s Neighbourhood Food Collection to help support those most in need this Christmas.
The annual winter food drive takes place between 1st and 3rd December. Working in partnership with the FareShare and Trussell Trust charities, Tesco customers can kindly donate long-life food to help people in need.
Tesco tops up customers donations by 20%. Since collections began in 2012, this is the ninth collection with Tesco donating over 38 million meals.
MP Rosie said:
“The kind and generous donations made by West Lancashire shoppers, Tesco staff and Tesco themselves are a lifeline for so many others. Every can and meal donated will make a real difference, especially at this time of year.
“Thank you to everyone who donated and to Tesco for their support in collecting the food and topping up all these donations.”
Lindsey Crompton, Head of Community at Tesco, said:
“The generosity of our customers every time we run the Neighbourhood Food Collection is outstanding. This is now our ninth collection and we want to once again support as many people in need across the UK this Christmas.”
Tesco also has over 600 permanent collection points across the country where customers can donate food each week.
