New lease of life for The Bull and Dog

The Bull and Dog in Burscough relaunched over the sunny bank holiday and is experiencing a new lease of life following a £280k investment.

The pub, which is owned by Punch and run by Richie and Sabrina Tedford, has undergone substantial redevelopment to create a real home from home feel for customers to enjoy. The Community pub has a brand-new look whilst remaining loyal to its roots.

The traditional interior design of the Bull and Dog strikes the perfect balance of having both comfy ‘snug’ drinking areas showcasing original wood beams and fireplaces whilst also having spacious rooms and a fantastic outdoor area for events and casual dining.

Local MP Rosie Cooper attended the VIP launch night to celebrate the pubs reopening, meeting the team and seeing first hand where the pub design pays homage to the fascinating history and local heritage.

Publicans Sabrina and Richie took Rosie on a tour of the pub and then invited the MP to cut the ribbon officially deeming the Bull and Dog open!

Rosie said: “I was delighted with the invite to take part in the Bull and Dog’s formal reopening event. Having been shown around, the renovation has further improved a lovely community pub.

“I wish Sabrina and Richie all the best with their venture and look forward to them welcoming in local residents and supporting community initiatives and groups.”

Also in attendance at Thursday’s VIP night was Royal Navy Captain, Nick Blackman OBE who gave a rousing speech to honour the pubs heritage and its unique links to HMS Ringtail thanking Punch for preserving this important local history.

Captain Blackman continued the historic tradition of using the heel of his shoe to put a coin into the beam which runs through the centre of the pub as a gesture of ‘luck’.

The pub is open daily offering a great drinks range and a new menu which hosts all the traditional favourites which is sure or cater for all.

Publicans Sabrina and Ritchie have big plans for the year ahead, as well as becoming the official sponsor for the local football team they are also planning charity events, family days out from the pub, summer festivals and Christmas fayres.

The Bull and Dog really is the Hub of the Community!

Tony Riley, Punch Taverns Publican Development Manager for the Bull and Dog commented:
“I want to thank both Rosie and Captain Blackman for visiting and officially opening the pub.

"We are delighted to invest in sites such as this and the Bull and Dog is a great example of a family run pub, steeped in history operating at the very heart of the community it serves.

"The pub is performing well, and I am very much looking forward to working with the Sabrina and Ritchie as they grow their pub business.”

Punch is a leading pub company in the UK with around 1,300 leased and tenanted pubs nationwide.
