West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper has welcomed the announcement in the Budget giving Councils extra money to fill in potholes on Britain’s roads after one of the coldest winters in British history . The Government has announced an extra £100 million funding for local authorities to help put the damage right - including an additional £1.9 million for Lancashire. The Government has ring fenced this money to make sure Councils use it to make our roads safe by filling in potholes, with each local authority publishing a brief report on the work they’ve carried out with the funding....

West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper has welcomed the Government's announcement to help pubs struggling to stay open. 'Pubs Minister' John Healey MP has announced a 12 point action plan to give practical support for community pubs across the country. Backed by £4 million of government funding, the new help will include funding for business support to make pubs more successful and help communities buy into pubs. 06/04/10 MP welcomes £5.5m for 1 to 1 tuition for children in Lancashire
West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper has welcomed the announcement by the Government that children in West Lancashire will benefit from increased funding for one-to-one tuition in state schools. Indicative numbers show that West Lancashire schools may receive about £425,000 for the 2010/11 school year, which is about double that from the previous year. The funding will help to provide 10 hours of one-to-one tuition in English and maths for each pupil at primary school and in the early years of secondary school who are falling behind in literacy and numeracy. “My position on Whitemoss has been clear and consistant since I visited the site back in 2005. I support the objections of West Lancashire residents who have regularly complained about the site. Residents contacted Rosie Cooper MP over many months concerned about the apparent lack of progress on the Skelmersdale Vision plans.
