West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper is delighted Skelmersdale United Football Club have secured an agreement that will see the club playing football next season.
Commenting on the club’s announcement, MP Rosie said:
“Like the club’s fans I am delighted that Skelmersdale United F.C.’s immediate future has been secured and they will still be playing football next season.
“It is clear from the messages I have received from the club’s fans and Skelmersdale residents that the football club means a great deal to individuals and to the wider community.
“Throughout the week I have been in constant contact with the football club and have been in contact with representatives of the grounds landlord and with Evo-Stik League officials.
“I have seen the statement from the landlord of the current ground at Stormy Corner but I think there needs be greater clarity on what his intentions are with the ground and for Skelmersdale United Football Club.
“The priority now is finding a long-term solution for the football club about where they will be playing in the years ahead as the club can’t be left facing these threats to their very existence at the end of every season.”
