Skelmersdale finally to get its town centre

Responding to the High court ruling on the judicial review brought against the planning permission granted for the redevelopment of Skelmersdale town centre, West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper said:

“The owners of the Concourse have fought tooth and nail to protect their own interests at the expense of Skelmersdale’s interests for far too long. The High Court ruling is a victory for the future of the town of Skelmersdale and its residents.

“There can be no more excuses, no more delays. I, like the people of Skelmersdale, now expect the promise of a new town centre to finally be delivered.

“I am looking forward to the town centre partnership of West Lancashire Borough Council, Homes and Communities Agency and St Modwen working together to drive the delivery of this long-awaited project.

“I have already written to St Modwen to seek clarification on their timescales for getting on site and making their plans a reality at last. I expect to see diggers at work soon after the New Year.

“I look forward to a twenty-first century town that Skelmersdale residents deserve.”
