West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper has received calls from Up Holland residents seeking clarification about rumours that Up Holland Post Office is to close. MP Rosie has made contact with the Post Office over these concerns.
MP Rosie said in the response to the constituents’ enquiries:
“Having been in contact with the Post Office, they tell me that the temporary sub-postmaster has given notice to leave Up Holland Post Office. This means the Post Office will be closing at 1pm on Thursday 9 July 2015.
“The Post Office view this is as a temporary closure and are in the process of seeking a retail partner in Up Holland to work with them to provide these vital local services.
“I would strongly encourage local retailers to seriously consider providing local post office counter services. We know that many residents and local businesses still rely on having a local post office. There are other villages in West Lancashire where the post office is located in a local store.
“It would be good for Up Holland to have these post office services available once again at the earliest opportunity.
“I am keeping in regular contact with the Post Office to check on progress in restoring post office services in Up Holland.”
