West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper met with West Lancashire Mencap members during their Hear My Voice Big Lunch event at Evermore Hub in Digmoor, Skelmersdale on Friday 19 June 2015.
Hear My Voice is a Mencap campaign focused on engaging people with learning difficulties with politics and encouraging politicians to take account of issues that affect people with learning disabilities.
Following the visit MP Rosie said:
“Thank you to Mencap for inviting me along to their event and for the opportunity to catch-up again with their members and families in this area. It was clear that everyone at the lunch had a great time and very much enjoyed the event which built on the success of last year’s event.
“Hear My Voice is a positive and important campaign. With 1.4 million people with a learning disability in the UK as much as everyone else they deserve to have their voices heard. Through this campaign Mencap are giving their members the support to be able to speak to politicians about the issues important to people with learning disabilities and their families.
“I look forward to continuing to work with Mencap and its members and am committed to continuing to listen to the issues and concerns of people with learning disabilities here in West Lancashire.”
