Responding to the decision to proceed with the closure of Glenburn Sports College following an appeal to the Office of the Schools Adjudicator, West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper said:
“This appeal was the last chance for getting the Glenburn closure decision over-turned.
“It is deeply disappointing despite strong and vocal opposition from parents and pupils at the meeting with the Schools Adjudicator along with all the consultation responses that they are continuing with the school closure.
“I remain unconvinced that this was the right decision and one that is in the best interests of the Glenburn pupils. Now the priority must be ensuring suitably safe and adequate transport provision in in place for these pupils; that they have the necessary teaching support to secure the best possible grades in their GCSEs and the disruption of the school move is minimised for the benefit of all pupils. I will continue to work with parents, schools and the local authority to ensure that this happens.”
