West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper met with the young members of the Diving4Fun club ahead of their training trip to Mexico with their internationally respected diving coach, Carlos Ferra.
Diving4Fun began in November 2013 offering competitive and recreational diving training for those aged 5 and upwards.
MP Rosie Cooper visited the club on a Saturday afternoon for their weekly session at Nye Bevan Swimming Pool as Carlos put the members through their paces. Besides the pool training the club also provides dry land training on the trampolines at Glenburn Sports College.
In the search for finding a future Tom Daly here in West Lancashire, selected club members aged between 8 and 15 years are jetting off to a Mexico training camp on 23 October 2015. Code Jalisco in Guadalajara offers the young aspiring Olympians access to Olympic standard training facilities and world class training alongside Olympic medallists and world champion divers.
MP Rosie said:
“It was great to watch from poolside this ever growing group of young divers put through their paces. To think that one day in the near future a member of this club could be on diving board competing at an Olympic Games.
“To have a coach of Carlos’ calibre here is West Lancashire is fantastic and gives our young local divers an incredible opportunity to learn from a coach of his standing whether it is for the fun of diving or the desire to compete.
“I am sure that the children will have an amazing experience in Mexico learning alongside some of the best divers and coaches in the world.”
Carlos Ferra said:
