In response to the threat over the future of the 3A bus service and the online petition, West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper said:
“This is an issue I have raised with Lancashire County Council and with government ministers. The scale of government cuts to local council budgets means we will see more and more of these decisions that will directly affect people’s ability to go about their daily lives.
“In 2016 it is simply unacceptable that people living in rural communities should be left isolated and disconnected unless they have access to a car.
“I’ve been contacted by many West Lancashire residents who rely on this service day to day to get to work, to school and college, or to get to their GP Practice.
“Government needs to better understand the consequences of their budget cuts on people’s daily lives. When living in more rural areas public transport is not an added extra it is an everyday essential part of people’s lives.”
