West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper is encouraging local registered charities to consider applying for funding through the Morrisons Foundation.
The scheme is funded by the proceeds from the sale of carrier bags at Morrisons supermarkets following new rules requiring large retailers to charge 5p per bag that came into effect from 5 October 2015. The Morrisons Foundation provides grants to charities with an aim to improve local people’s lives.
Rosie Cooper MP said:
“This is a fantastic way for the money raised through the sale of carrier bags to be re-invested back into local communities. I would strongly recommend that local charities get their applications in as soon as possible.”
