West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper said:
“My thoughts and prayers are with Georgia Addy and her parents at this desperately difficult time for the family.
“As we know the incident is being investigated by Lancashire Police with witnesses being sought to help with that investigation.
“On several occasions I have raised residents’ concerns regarding traffic speed issues along Moss Lane, most recently this summer.
“At the end of 2015 a speed survey was undertaken by Lancashire County Council with Lancashire Police agreeing to periodic speed enforcement action, which they have carried out.
“In the most recent replies having raised residents’ concerns with the authorities, Lancashire County Council have committed to reviewing Moss Lane at the Speed Tasking Group to consider additional enforcement action.
“Ultimately any decisions on speed limits are a decision for Lancashire County Council as the highway authority and Lancashire Police.”
