West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper is encouraging council tenants to apply for the tenancy insurance policy to protect their homes from threats such as flooding now the IT system is up and running.
In July, MP Rosie raised concerns with West Lancashire Borough Council after constituents complained the council were not accepting new applications for the insurance policy due to technical problems.
Now those IT issues have been resolved, MP Rosie wants council tenants to apply to ensure their homes are properly insured, especially with the cold and wet weather closing in.
MP Rosie said:
“As we have seen with the 2015 Boxing Day floods and in June this year, we don’t know when incidents will hit people’s homes causing serious damage.
“It is it important council tenants have adequate and appropriate insurance so they are properly protected. Now the IT issues have been fixed residents should contact the Borough Council and take out this insurance policy if they need it.”
