West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper has joined with fellow North West MPs to call on the Transport Minister Chris Grayling and Northern Rail to end their dispute over driver-only trains.
Alongside local MPs Lisa Nandy, Jo Platt and Angela Rayner, MP Rosie has called for both Chris Grayling and Northern Rail to re-engage in talks with the RMT Union who represent rail staff to resolve the dispute.
Rosie believes the retention of guards on trains is an important issue that needs resolution.
Rosie Cooper MP said:
“It is unacceptable that the travelling public continue to be disrupted by the refusal of the government and Northern Rail to reconsider their view on this important issue.
“We remain convinced of the need for guards to remain on Northern Rail services to uphold passenger safety and service quality.
“I am calling on Chris Grayling and Northern Rail to re-engage in talks with the RMT as the deadlock in this dispute is damaging to all parties, particularly my West Lancashire constituents and commuters across the North West.”
