West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper said:
“Following a long and drawn out process costing the taxpayer many thousands of pounds, it is clear that the Tories’ agenda both locally and nationally of galloping privatisation continues.
“This contract award will lead to more fragmentation, as we have seen here in West Lancashire with the awarding of key health contracts to Virgin Care by the local CCG. It’ll now be even more difficult to provide joined-up services across Lancashire.
“At the end of the day it is the patient that loses out while private firms like Virgin Care and their shareholders win taking profits out of the NHS that should be reinvested in local health and social care services.”
