West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper has been inundated with correspondence from constituents expressing their concerns over the 310 bus service rerouting.
Due to roadworks taking place until Friday 26th April 2019, service 310 will be diverted, with buses unable to serve Winifred Lane, Bold Lane, Smithy Lane or Springfield Road. The service will operate via Northway (A59) instead.
Residents, many elderly, rely on this service for connectivity and are now worried by the extra distance they will now have to walk, including crossing the busy 60mph Northway.
West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper said:
“I have contacted both Arriva and Lancashire County Council concerning the rerouting of the 310 through Aughton.
“Residents will be forced to walk longer distances and undertake riskier crossings in order to catch the bus.
“While these roadworks may be unavoidable, residents are calling for the route to be relooked at and consideration given to a diversion that will still serve residents who are not near the A59.
“Forcing pensioners who need to go shopping, travel to appointments and see family and friends, across a 60 mile per hour A road dual carriageway doesn’t make sense. I look forward to hearing back from Arriva.”
