Due to roadworks taking place until Friday 26th April 2019, service 310 will be diverted, with buses unable to serve Winifred Lane, Bold Lane, Smithy Lane or Springfield Road. The service will operate via Northway (A59) instead.
Residents, many elderly, rely on this service for connectivity and are now worried by the extra distance they will now have to walk, including crossing the busy 60mph Northway.
West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper has been inundated with correspondence from constituents expressing their concerns, and contacted both Arriva and Lancashire County Council.
MP Rosie said:
“I have received correspondence from Arriva claiming that having relooked at the routing, they have not been able to find an alternative Ormskirk bound route other than the one that is currently in operation. They have however arranged for a temporary bus stop at Springfield Lane in Aughton on the Liverpool bound route.
“Lancashire County Council have thankfully made further efforts by temporarily amending the tendered local Ormskirk Town Bus Service 5 to additionally serve Aughton village centre.
“Whilst this does not operate as frequently as the 310 and doesn’t provide a direct link to Liverpool, this will enable more local residents who rely on public transport to access local amenities.
“Unfortunately, there will still be some who will not be directly catered for during the roadworks.”
