West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper said:
“I am pleased to hear that Lancashire Constabulary are investing money in the upgrading of Skelmersdale police station and committing to their long term future in the town.
“Unfortunately, this means that the police will operate out of Ormskirk’s station for between 12 and 18 months while this work is being carried out.
“I have been assured that there will be no reduction in police presence on the beat in Skelmersdale.
“Having met with Lancashire Constabulary Assistant Chief Constable today, they have agreed to consider the provision of an alternative front desk during the refurb if at all possible.”
