West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper said:
“Throughout the past three decades, led by Eleanor’s drive and direction, the Liberty Centre has provided a most valuable service to those in need. These services, expanding to outreach workers for adults, children and men who have been victims of domestic violence have helped countless West Lancashire residents.
“It was a pleasure to have worked with Eleanor, and it was fitting in the recent New Years Honours that she was commended, by receiving a MBE, for services to Victims of Domestic Violence and Abuse in West Lancashire, having founded the West Lancashire Women’s Refuge in Skelmersdale 30 years ago.
“Eleanor was a great loss to the charity sector and West Lancashire when she retired recently, and will be a great loss to her family and many friends, my thoughts and prayers are with them.”
