West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper has signed an Early Day Motion urging the Government to meet UK hospitality representatives to establish a roadmap to recovery for the sector in 2021.
The EDM has so far been supported by 37 MPs across Political parties in Westminster and is calling on the Government to take action to support Hospitality businesses by extending the job retention scheme to the end of the second quarter and removing the business rate relief cliff edge in April.
Rosie Cooper MP commented:
“The hospitality sector has endured almost a year of uncertainty and financial difficulty. Hospitality business owners in my own constituency have made tremendous sacrifices and I believe that the financial support offered so far by the Government simply does not go far enough.
”Job losses have already been huge and we cannot afford to lose any more businesses. The Government need to support the hospitality sector now, so that they can help us move past this difficult period once the lockdown has been safely lifted.”
