West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper has called on the Environment Agency (EA) once again to urgently investigate the source of pollution in the River Tawd.
This follows a large number of residents sharing their concerns with Rosie about what appears to be a huge dump of chemicals into the river running through Skelmersdale.
Rosie Cooper MP said:
“This is completely unacceptable. Fish are dying and other wildlife are suffering due to selfish and lazy businesses.
“I am tired of repeatedly reporting this to the EA, only to be told they have provided advice and guidance to the businesses causing the pollution.
“Advice and guidance is not enough, the EA need to take real enforcement action on any and all breaches of regulations that they find. If not, businesses will just continue to pollute knowing the only risk is a mild slap on the wrist!”
