At this week’s Prime Ministers Questions, West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper sought Boris Johnson’s support in resolving an issue that has consistently plagued the pupils and staff of Town Green Primary School.
Referring to the frequent flooding of the school and repeated evacuations of students, Rosie asked that the PM work with the Local Authority and Headteacher to find a solution that will ensure no child in West Lancashire loses a vital day of education to flooding-related issues.
Rosie Cooper MP said:
“This problem has gone on too long. Lancashire County Council have identified a series of improvements previously but have only undertaken the most basic actions so far.
“With students returning to schools next week, it is vital that the Council undertake all of the required improvements to actually make meaningful progress. I hope that my question to the Prime Minister will help encourage a more substantive response from the council.
“There has already been too much disruption to their education this year, students at Town Green need the consistency of knowing they won’t have to leave school any time it rains heavily.”
