Rosie Cooper MP has today welcomed the decision by Historic England to award £80,000 to Ormskirk as part of its High Streets Heritage Action Zone cultural programme.
This comes as part of a government funding initiative to support historic high streets across the country, helping to regenerate and restore town centres into thriving centres of business and community.
Rosie commented: “This is great news for Ormskirk, its residents, and those who enjoy visiting the historic town centre. I look forward to seeing the money put to good use.
“A focus on restoring and stimulating our high streets is extremely welcome after the year we have all suffered. Many local businesses have experienced serious hardship and shown great resilience.
“I am pleased to report that the multi-million pound redevelopment of Skelmersdale’s town centre is also ongoing – all West Lancashire residents deserve accessible community spaces to shop, dine and socialise.”
