West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper has raised concerns with the borough council about the volume of facemasks littering the Pimbo Estate.
Following contact from local residents, MP Rosie wrote to West Lancashire Borough Council’s Corporate Director of Place and Community to ensure the area is being cleaned.
Rosie Cooper MP commented:
“Residents who contacted me were rightly upset with the high level of facemasks having been thrown away and littering around the Pimbo Estate.
“Having raised the matter with the local council I was pleased to hear from the Head of Environment Services that the Clean and Green Team will be along to litter pick and that they have launched an anti-littering campaign, including a focus on wearing reusable facemasks and responsibly disposing of single use ones.
“Local businesses in the area have also been contacted to help encourage their employees and customers to also act responsibly.”
