West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper has received confirmation from Lancashire County Council of a bid for Government funding to address Parbold flooding issues.
Following the 2015 floods, MP Rosie has been working closely with Parbold Flood Action Group to ensure the council brings forward its promised flood report and subsequent actions.
While some work has been undertaken to address the problems, LCC have now updated their request for Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management (FCERM) Grant in Aid (GiA).
West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper said:
“We can never get complacent hoping that flooding issues in Parbold and across West Lancashire have just gone away, so I continue to support Parbold Flood Action Group to ensure that the responsible agencies including Lancashire County Council take their responsibilities seriously.
“Having been in continued correspondence with the county council since the floods in 2015, I am pleased to hear that further work is still ongoing and that the council is bidding for additional government funding to deal with the issue in the long-term.
“If the bid is successful, the grant will be used to finally complete their flood report into existing conditions around the village, to assess options for improving flood risk management and to deliver relevant projects.
“Regardless of the outcome of this bid, I will continue to hold Lancashire County Council to account for resolving the flooding issues in Parbold and across West Lancashire in their role as the Lead Local Flood Authority.”
