West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper has been contacted by her West Lancashire constituents regarding the condition of the War Memorial flags at the Skelmersdale and Ormskirk Cenotaphs, with constituents stating these flags are in a tired and sorry state.
MP Rosie contacted West Lancashire Borough Council about the condition of these flags and has been informed that they are now in the process of being replaced, with the flags also being reviewed annually to stop a reoccurrence of this issue.
Rosie Cooper MP said:
“I am delighted that West Lancashire Borough Council are replacing both flags and will hold an annual review of these cenotaphs to stop such an issue arising again.
“These Cenotaphs are a part of our history and must be treated with the utmost respect and we must take pride in our flag and those who fought for it.
“With the replacement and regular checks to maintain the Cenotaphs I expect these flags not to fall into a poor state again, or at least being replaced as appropriate.”
