The Competition and Markets Authority has opened an investigation into the PCR test provider Expert Medicals after complaints have alleged that the firm has not provided tests and results in a timely manner or at all and has failed to offer refunds or respond to customer complaints.  

This follows the CMA issuing a warning letter to a number of PCR test providers that they would face further action if their services did not improve.   

West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper has welcomed the CMA’s investigation, after she had reported one such complaint about Expert Medicals to the CMA on behalf of a constituent who had not received their test results in over a week.  

Rosie Cooper MP commented: 
“It truly is a disgrace that firms like this have gotten away with these deplorable practices for so long.   

“My constituent had paid close to £200 and yet the company failed to return their results in time. This is a company that was even listed on the Government website as meeting their requirements!  

“Whilst they have now been taken off the Government’s list, this is too little too late! How many people will have fallen victim to their unprofessional or even deceitful business practices!?  

“We must hold each and every provider found to be breaching customer protection laws to account. They cannot be allowed to continue to profit off of a global pandemic!”
