“The Environment Agency have provided me with useful information regarding flooding risk in West Lancashire. They have informed me that from today (Monday 01 November 2021) until the end of Wednesday, there is a low likelihood of localised flooding with individual properties potentially affected. There are currently 8 flood alerts and 3 flood warnings in place for Lancashire.
The Environment Agency 5 day flood forecast and information on the latest flood alerts and warnings in place can be found at: https://check-for-flooding.service.gov.uk/ So far, there have not been any reports of flooding to property in Lancashire.
The heavy rain is expected to last until early afternoon and then be replaced by scattered showers. The Met Office has forecast much drier weather for most of the North West from Tuesday with some sunshine.
The Environment Agency will continue to monitor coastal and river levels closely and are working with local authorities and partners to reduce the risk of flooding. Their teams are out on the ground working 24/7 clearing grids, checking defences and making sure our pumping stations are working. They are ready and prepared to respond to any flooding incidents in line with current covid requirements.
I urge anyone in West Lancashire to check their flood risk and sign up for free flood warnings at https://check-for-flooding.service.gov.uk/ , call Floodline on 0345 988 1188 or follow @EnvAgencyNW and #floodaware on Twitter. The Environment Agency have also advised people to take care on coastal paths, stay away from swollen rivers and not to drive through flood water as just 30cm of flowing water is enough to move your car. “
