West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper was welcomed to the Beacon Park development by Divisional Managing Director of Gleeson, Arron Passarelli, who gave her a tour of the site, including a soon to be completed affordable home.
The Beacon Park site is one of two affordable housing developments that Gleeson are building in Skelmersdale that are aimed at giving young people and key workers the opportunity to buy their first home. In total, Gleeson have four developments in the town, with two having previously been completed.
Rosie Cooper MP said:
“I am grateful to Gleeson for the opportunity to see this site before the houses are completed. With the new Town Centre on its way, and the continued expansion of Skelmersdale’s industrial estates, more affordable housing is incredibly important to the improvement of the town!
“It is important that local young people and key workers are able to buy their own homes rather than being forced to rent, and that housing developers engage with and support the local community. It is encouraging to hear that Gleeson are also committed to both of these goals and offer exclusive packages to key workers interested in purchasing one of their homes.”
Divisional Managing Director of Gleeson, Arron Passarelli said:
“It was a pleasure to welcome Rosie Cooper MP to the Gleeson development in Skelmersdale. It allowed us to discuss the work that we are doing to provide 72 affordable homes for first time buyers and young families, a key proportion of those who are key workers. We were pleased to introduce Ms Cooper to our onsite team, including apprentices and to show her a range of homes under construction.
“We look forward to keeping an on-going dialogue with Ms Cooper and continuing to discuss the need for more affordable homes in the local area.”
