Rosie Cooper MP is encouraging West Lancashire residents to plan ahead for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and join in the annual “Big Lunch” celebration.
The Big Lunch started in 2009 as an initiative to get as many people as possible to have lunch with their neighbours. Since then, it has grown tenfold, with a massive nine million getting involved online, on the doorstep or with socially safe street parties in 2021.
Communities are being invited to hold a “Big Jubilee Lunch” to share food and fun during the Jubilee bank holiday weekend of 2-5 June 2022. Neighbours can join whenever works best for them – whether that’s to say cheers to volunteers, connect with others or simply to say thank you.
Rosie Cooper MP commented,
“Our neighbours and local communities have kept us going through some dark times over the last few years. Evidence has shown that these sort of local get-togethers have a positive and lasting effect on community cohesion and local pride.
“It would be fantastic to see events organised across West Lancashire to celebrate this milestone for the Queen and Country and enjoy the special bank holiday weekend.”
