West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper has urged housing developer Torus to get on with the construction of a new estate in Burscough, after finding the work had stalled.
When it was first proposed, many residents spoke out against the development in question which is on the site of the former Burscough FC ground, saying they felt it was relegating the town’s football team in favour of business interests.
After raising this matter with the developer Torus, they have responded to MP Rosie citing difficulties with their contracted construction company as the reason for the stalled work.
Rosie Cooper MP commented:
“It is not good enough to blame contractors, as the company responsible for this controversial development, Torus need to take control and get on with it or get off the pitch!
“Burscough residents justifiably feel very frustrated with this situation. Burscough FC’s former ground Victoria Park was a focal point of the community, and it was taken from them against their will, and now in its place, they seem to have a permanent building site!
“If the developer can’t make progress soon, they need to find a developer that can and move on. My constituents should not have to endure this”
